January’s Resilience Focus: Meaning

I am thrilled to begin this six month journey cultivating resilience with you. Each month our practice will center around one pillar of resilience. You will discover soon enough that even as we practice in one area other pillars will be discussed and strengthened as well.

This month we will be concentrating on MEANING. That force (or forces) in our life that give us purpose and passion. Dolly Parton said “Find out who you are and do it on purpose.” I love that! Being aware of who you are is good, yet it’s passive. Being intentional–doing something with that awareness–is how we see our meaning and purpose come to life.

Meaning and purpose are threads that courses through the entire tapestry of our lives. It exists as passion in the relationships we build with our partners, our children, our friends, our communities, and indeed, humanity. It exists as spirituality whether that takes the form of a relationship with God, the divine, a specific community of worship, or simply a connection to something greater than ourselves. It exists in the awe that we allow ourselves to seek out and savor whether it be a sunrise in the morning or the feeling of our head on the pillow at night.

I want to share and hear about all of these with you this month. I hope it can be interactive so we can each be both teachers and learners together.
